Included are classic artists such as Bill Doggett, Al King and Hank Ballard, and new songs by Russell Thompkins, Jr.. (Stylistics), Jay Proctor (Techniques), Jackie Gore (Embers), Danny & the Juniors and others. "Soul Steppin'" is a kind of dance and music particular to many different Ocean Drives. In Chicago and Detroit it's called - "Steppin'," in Baltimore, MD, "The Bop," in the U.K., "Northern & Modern Soul," in parts of Texas, "The Houston Whip," and on Ocean Drive in North Myrtle Beach, SC, the dance is the "Shag" and the music is called "Beach Music."
